Biên Hòa HDR image ^^

This is my first practice of taking photo. The photo was taken by my friend's Sony Erricson phone (just only 2 Megapixel :D) and was taken in my vacation to the place call Bửu Long near my house. Although the place is just about 2km far from my house but it really hard to take their because there are many trees and bushes. The only time i known about this place was when the government made a road thought the area. As you can see, this place is really beautiful. There is 1 large lake with many trees and small mountain cover around. This place is really quite and the air is soooooooooooo coooooooooooooool :D. I also found a small coffee vendor right beside the lake so it make me a happy day to enjoy the nature.

There is some small color tweaks to the image. I used the technique called HDR (High Dynamic Range) image to make this photo. You can also find how to make HDR image by searching in Google.

Have a break, Have a KitKat Poster :D

This is my poster I designed for my partner - Vy, she asked my to do a poster to promote for the product KitKat. Firstly, i intended to make the poster look colorful, like many stuff fly around, ribbons roll around. But during my working process, i removed many elements and think that I should kept this as clean as possible to make the product stand out. Then i just used some textures and the chocolate bar image that my partner gave for me to make the whole poster. The slogan and some text found on product's website also was added.

Pain of the Machine :D

Work from assignment 2 which is the photo montage assignment. All the image must be created by myself. For this final work, i had to take a huge half-nude series of myself lol =)). ( All pictures were taken by my 2 friends and they also created another huge self-picture collections for them =))

Most the machine part used in my work is taken from the old motorbike of my aunt. It is Honda Cup (a really old motorbike version of Honda company, but i really love it because of its elegant in design and durability). Other small part were taken from the old fan which was broken for 2 months ago. Playing with color layers and blending modes is my always interesting part of my process. They sometime create amazing color which you cannot think of :D

The Magazine

This is my work for my latest assignment, assignment 1 which is required to make a layout for a magazine that show researching about famous designers. My research is about Herb Lubalin, he is a great designer with many famous logo such as Families logo, Marriage logo, Mother & Child logo, he also the creator of the famous font Avant Garde which is use by many magazine.

The layout for this magazine is inspired from one of his works which has the shape of the number "72". I just traced the number 7 part and used it as my main layout. I also used his face to make some pattern by using Color Halftone filter. I chose solid gray as main color to represent his simplicity in works. Actually, there are 5 pages in my magazine but i only take 2 first pages because i think they are most impressive :))

GameSpot Magazine cover

This piece is my magazine cover for GameSpot (just for example :D). I did this all in Illustrator just to practise my skill but also to killing time (actually i did this about 5-6 months ago, when i finished my class and just stayed at home for 1 month. It was so boring her her =,=! ). 

The colour of this work was inspired from the National Geographic channel. I really like the elegant feel of these two colours so i decied to use light grey and yellow for my work.

The character is Ada Wong, was taken from the game Resident Evil 4 (which you have to play, best game ever play 9/10).

Life is...

This is my newest hand drawing that I did mostly in class. I have a bad habit that i always like to draw anywhere and anytime in any material (even on the table or on my skin >"<). I do this drawing in about 4 or 5 class of Marketing and this not mean Marketing class is boring but i like to draw when listen to the lecture :D. This was done on my personal notebook. I have scanned this one and traced it in Photoshop. I intend to do a colour version when i have more free time to pay for this piece.

Nokia Ads

This morning my lecturer requiered us to compose a new ad for the brand Nokia using the photomontage technique that he taught us last class. He asked us to use images that he provided on the BB. There are 6 or 7 images and we had to use all of them to create the ad. After 2 hours of experience many effects and blending modes, this is my final works, one is with Nokia phone + text and one is none.

PS: My effect is also be called "Pepsi effect" - according to my lecturer - Thierry. Haha :))

Gestalt - Closure Logos

We had learn about gestalt this week and was ask to find some images related to this topic. As  there are many picture that related to Closure and Alignment element, so i decided to search these term in the logo field and the result was many interesting logos appeared.

The first one is FedEx logo, this brand is very popular in the world. As you can see in the logo, there is a small arrow which point to the right means FexEx is the most effective delivery service

Secondly is the WWF logo, they only use some black part to create the shape of the Panda.

Next is the logo of Families, and Marriage logo. I will let you a change to make a guess with these two logos, which is very iconic.

And the last one is the new Branding Union logo. "The symbol is based on the counterforms of the letters that spell 'brand' and 'union.' Their distinctive arrangement represents the process of bringing together the people, ideas, and touchpoints that brands need to thrive," said Krantz.

Enterprise IG, in a move toward aligning its 21 offices around the world, announced on November 5 that it has been renamed The Brand Union. Simon Bolton, worldwide CEO, said that adopting the new name and identity was an important juncture for the company.The Brand Union's new name, graphic language and logo were developed by an internal design team led by Wally Krantz, executive creative director, US. 

The CARH - ART - T - YPOGRAPHY

This week we were taught about typography and something related to the website called CARHARTT. This site is about designer of workwear and outerwear pieces such as shorts, woven shirts, pants, jackets and accessories. But the speciality of this website is all the logo with the word carhartt art make with basic shapes to make letters. My lecturer requierd us to make some typography base on this style. 

Firstly, i chose the word carhartt and try to experience its shape. Then i saw that all the characters have the round conners and these conners could be made easy with the shape of circles. Then i tried to arrange many circles shape to make all characters by using pentool, and then cut and paste some parts of the circle to make smaller tail. The picture below is the final result fill with solid black

For this pieces i changed the color, blending mode, add more color and perspective to make it more attractive

Now this piece is just an idea but I intend to use this beautiful piece in my other future projects :D ( but still dunno which project is :P)

The Making of Sun and Moon version 1

Hello guy! I'll show you the source images that I used to make The Sun and The Moon version 1. All of those images were taken from Deviantart stock which has a thoudsands of free image that ready to use (of course you have to get the permission from the author before using their works). I think it not really hard to get the permission right? kaka. Okie, now let see the source images

1. The source used for The Moon piece

The Moon is the most difficult piece that i've work on. I spent a lot of time to find the right image for my ideas and this is the hardest part because there are many beautiful models and poses to choose one. After hours of "brainstorming" (haha) and searching, I finally got this two pieces of two pregnant woman. I used the black shadow woman as my main part and only use the arm of the woman on the left side to created two arm to the black woman. After that, I add the head on the top left side the the pose and edit some color in Color Balance. Finally, add the moon to the belly and take some tries in color blending mode.

2. The source used for The Sun piece

This piece is really easy. I was not change these images much in my final work. What you see in this three images are mostly the same with the final piece, except I had edited the arm of the man to lower position. And also some challengings in Color Balance and Blending Mode are taken. All the fire and flame were made by myself. Njoy :))

The Sun and The Moon V2

As you can see Sun and Moon in the last entry, i will show you my other version of Sun and Moon which i think there is a significant change in style and meaning. I really love this piece. After 1 day after my first two artworks of Sun and Moon. I try to make this two pieces more abstract and easier to get the idea.

The idea for this work came to me really accidentally when i was learning in Thierry class. Kaka. I was not really pay attention to his lession and the idea appeared in my mind. Got it!

Using the same technique when doing V1, i started to search images. I found one pieces of paper texture in my texture collection and think that this will be the best chose for the background. I also search some photos of water splash and dropplets. The photo of pearl and hot lava sun also need to be found. And the final result is

• The meaning of this work also different from version 1. Instead of male and female; black and white; I replaced those of them by FIRE and WATER.
  
• When looking to the moon or image of the moon, people has the trend of thinking about light and water. So that i make a splash of water and add a white pearl on top of the splash to represent for light.
  
• The meaning of the flame blade is easy. It represent for the hot sun with many lava tongue around its sphere.
  
• In general, all the image look like the fire and the water are dancing together in white space (represent for nothing), After this fate dancing, human were born (because fire and water are two main elements that created the earth and human) =)) LOL.
  
• This image also look like the shape of Ying Yang which is represent for everything that opposite but need to be together to make the world balance
  

Graphic design is...

Our lecturer had gave us this sentence in class and ask us to translate it meaning to image or symbol that fully represent the original statement

"Graphic design is a business of making or choosing marks & arranging them on a surface to convey an idea."

After a while of thinking, choosing, drawing and arranging them on a grey surface, i conveied this idea :))

The Sun and The Moon

Ey yo! This is my first post and I'll show you some works of mine

As last week we was learn about some art and design concept and we was asked to create 2 pieces of artwork which represent for the sun and the moon. My lecturer requied us to do something which can make people immediately think about the sun and the moon when looking in our artwork. That mean it has to be simple, arouse image and connect in ideas. As i had learn in class, I first do some brainstorming and after got a right ideas I stared to do some researching.

I came up with the idea of "invert". This idea came to me when I was using photoshop to do my work and the word "Invert" appeared in the menu. This tool bring really cool effect to the image so i decided to make my artwork relate to the word "Invert"

Now I already have my ideas and I began to search some images. Most of my images came from Deviantart site because it has a huge stock image and easy to get permission from the author. I decided to make my artwork in Manipulation style so i have to find many images and mix them together. And below is two pieces of my work.

As you can see, everything in these two pieces are inverted. except the sex of male and female.

• First, everyone will think that the moon appears when it is dark and the sun only raises in the morning. I do the reverse thing. White background for the Moon pieces and black background for the Sun pieces.
  
• Second, we always think that the sun, the moon, and the earth are where we were come from (or our legendary parents). I shown my idea as we are parents of the sun and the moon. The woman is being pregnant the moon and the sun (as father role) is training his Sun son.
  
• The color also represent the different between Sun and Moon
